Take a look at this dark, angular southeast corner of Duboce Park, because you may not be seeing it for much longer.
Friends of Duboce Park has come up with a plan to make the area at the corner of Duboce and Steiner “more welcoming and attractive,” and they want your feedback.
Working with local architects, they’ve come up with a design that incorporates a low semi-circular seating wall, with angled cutouts “to deter skateboarding.” There will also be a lighting fixture to improve safety at the corner, and a wayfinder pointing to nearby facilities and neighborhoods.
Basically it’ll look like this:
Tonight, FDP is hosting the second of three community meetings to present the design and solicit feedback from the neighborhood. The meeting will take place from 7 to 8pm at the Harvey Milk Photo Center Exhibition Room at 50 Scott Street.
If you can’t make it tonight, the last of the three meetings will take place Thursday January 10th, again at the Harvey Milk Center.
We’ll keep an eye on it, and will update if the plan moves forward.
