You might know Underground SF (424 Haight) as the dancehall of the Lower Haight. But did you know that on Wednesday nights the establishment turns into a live music hotspot?

Yes, every Wednesday, Dave James (owner of Love Haight Records) and Alex Webber co-host the Local Artist Live-In.

The event features local singer/songwriters from around San Francisco and the Bay Area, and you’re apt to encounter some really talented musicians at the Live-In. The night usually includes two or three different acts, and closes with a DJ spinning funky dance tunes.

As the dance floor is used as a stage, audience members fill the bar area to watch and listen. It’s really a perfect venue for this kind of event. Small and intimate, with red hazy lighting, it gives the artists a great setting for their music, while being low-key and comfortable for the crowd as well.

There’s a $5 cover for the show, but it’s compensated with $4 beers — good stuff, like Lagunitas IPA — and 2-for-1 Jameson shots. Hey-o!

Tonight’s lineup features Aaron Ford and Maria Quiles & Rory Cloud. Doors open at 9pm, and the music usually begins about a half hour later.
