Have you registered to vote yet? If not, today’s your last chance.
Here’s what to do.
First, visit this website, where you can find out whether you’re already registered or not. You can also use it to find your local polling place and a sample ballot.
If you’re not registered yet, good news: you can do it online. Just click here and fill out the form by midnight tonight. You can also print it and fill it out by hand if you prefer — just stick it in the mail and make sure it gets postmarked today.
Once you’re registered, it’s time to pore over that sample ballot and familiarize yourself with the issues, if you haven’t done so already.
Among the issues on the ballot this year is the race for D5 Supervisor. Get to know the candidates by reviewing our recent 3-part Q&A series, posted here, here, and here. There are also local measures dealing with taxes, parks, and the Hetch Hetchy reservoir, as well as eleven statewide propositions and a bunch of state and local races to decide.
And of course, there’s that whole Presidential contest.
So do your civic duty, neighbor, and make sure you vote this year. After all, participation in the electoral process is the foundation of a stable democracy. Plus they give you a cute little sticker, which is fun.
