Coming in October: The Lower Haight Urban Air Market

On Saturday, October 20th, something new will take over the Lower Haight: the Urban Air Market.

From 7am to 7pm, Haight Street from Webster to Pierce will be closed to auto traffic. Instead, the street will be lined with booths featuring hundreds of local vendors selling clothing, accessories, jewelry, and other items.

The Urban Air Market bills itself as a “curated marketplace for sustainable design.” Typically, it descends upon Hayes Valley twice a year (as it did yesterday). But in October, it will make its debut in the Lower Haight.

Businesses that are members of the Lower Haight Merchants and Neighbors Association will be offered a booth for free. Also, there won’t be any food vendors participating, so all those shoppers will likely translate into extra business for Lower Haight restaurants and bars.

We’ll have more details as the date approaches. For now, mark your calendar, and start getting excited.
