We can’t possibly report on every crime that happens in the neighborhood, nor would we want to. But we received enough emails and tweets this week to stuff a crime blotter.
So, here’s a recap of some notable nastiness in the neighborhood of late.
(Some of these reports come from Local Addition’s robust Crime Watch, while others come from reader submissions and/or the SFPD.)
On Saturday at 1:35pm, a man was robbed at gunpoint by two men near Fillmore and Page. The suspects, described as a Hispanic male and black male both 40 years old, took money from the man’s wallet, then fled in a sedan.
On Tuesday, a reader reports a man was seen slashing tires on Steiner between Haight and Page. A blond bearded white man allegedly jumped out of a green Subaru with a long hunting knife and proceeded to stab tires along the block. Police were called, but no word whether the man was caught.
Early Wednesday morning, a 31-year-old woman was robbed at Haight and Laguna. The suspect, a 45-year-old black male, tried to steal her purse, then punched her in the face several times when she resisted. Police patrolled the area with the victim and were able to apprehend the suspect nearby soon thereafter.
A few hours later, shortly after noon, a man was robbed of his “tablet computer” at Hayes and Laguna. The suspect, described as a black male in his 20s, fled in a blue sedan.
That night, at 11:45pm, a 30-year-old woman was robbed near Divisadero and Waller. The suspect, described as a 20-year-old black male, stole her purse and other items and escaped in a “smaller gold vehicle.”
Look. We live in a city, and a certain level of crime is inevitable. But we’ve definitely noticed an uptick in the past few months around these parts. We’ll keep an eye on reports as they come in, and will continue to relay them as we deem appropriate.
In the meantime, stay alert, stay safe, and in the event something does happen to you, be sure to call the police. OK? OK.
