Interested in helping restore and transform the Harding Theater at 616 Divisadero?
Then you’ll probably want to attend this.
Neighbors Developing Divisadero, a group that’s spearheading efforts to purchase the dilapidated Harding, will be hosting a community forum Monday night at The Offcenter (848 Divisadero).
The forum, scheduled from 6:30pm to 9:30pm, will include an interactive exhibit detailing the group’s plans for the theater, along with live music, a raffle, drinks and snacks, a photobooth, and more. If you can’t get there by 6:30pm, don’t worry — the exhibit is self-guided, so attendees can arrive whenever they’re able and stay as long as they’d like.
The Harding was a popular movie and live entertainment venue from the 1920s up until 2003, when it was purchased by developers who planned to demolish it and replace it with condos. An outcry from preservationists and several years of permit/project reviews ensued, with the developers eventually abandoning their plans. The Harding, now in a state of serious disrepair, is currently on the market for $3.6 million.
