District Attorney George Gascon’s office is considering charges in July’s fatal car crash at Oak and Octavia.
According to SF Appeal, prosecutors are deciding whether to file charges against the driver of a UCSF van which allegedly ran a red light at the intersection of Oak and Octavia on the morning of July 14th. The van then collided with a tractor-trailer, and 52-year-old UCSF doctor Kevin Mack, a passenger on the van, was ejected and killed.
Gascon made the announcement on Tuesday as part of a news conference to encourage street safety during the holiday season. Charges are either being filed or considered in a number of other recent fatal accidents around the city, Gascon said, noting that “all were preventable” deaths.
We’ll keep an eye on it.
