Pets, politics, and a public hearing — it’s a trifecta of Lower Haight-related items to liven up your Thursday.

At noon, the SF Planning Department holds a public hearing, and the agenda includes the proposed S.R.O. at 124-148 Fillmore Street. The project aims to convert 3 four-bedroom flats into one 15-room residential hotel, but has met resistance from concerned neighbors. Today’s hearing will determine what happens with the project, so if you have an opinion, this is your chance to voice it. You can find out more about the project here:

At 5pm, head to The Animal House (157 Fillmore) for a shopping night fundraiser to benefit Muttville Senior Dog Rescue.
Muttville’s mission is to provide rescue, foster, adoption, and hospice for senior dogs, and support and education for the people that love them.
15% of sales from tonight’s event will go to Muttville. Shoppers will also enjoy light beverages and hors d’oeuvres. The fundraiser is scheduled to last until 8pm. You can find more info here:

Finally, at 7pm, it’s a Mayoral Candidates Forum — this one sponsored in part by the Lower Haight Merchants and Neighbors Association.
Watch 12 candidates for mayor spar over issues relevant to District 5 residents. The forum is being organized by 11 neighborhood organizations (including LoHaMNA), and will be moderated by ABC7′s Carolyn Tyler.
This all goes down at UCSF’s Cole Hall, 513 Parnassus, from 7pm to 9pm.

As usual, you can keep up with these and other fun local events by checking our Haighteration calendar. And if you know of anything else going on in the neighborhood today, do let us know.
