Even though it’s the first day of fall in most of North America, it’s officially summer in this week’s leftovers.

We’ve got stories about outdoor movies and dining, half-priced coffee and special smoothies, free events with music, art, science, and more. Let’s dig in!

This week, Scoutmob has a deal for 50% off at Bean There (201 Steiner). Just download the Scoutmob app for your iPhone or Android, then present it at Bean There between now and December 20th, and you’ll get half off your bill (up to a $10 discount).

Yesterday, the folks at Ragazza (311 Divisadero) tweeted that their back patio is finally open for business. Well, a little business. Eater reports that they’ll start by serving light snacks and drinks out back, and eventually move up to full dinner service in a couple weeks.

Speaking of Eater, they also posted a story this week about Maven (598 Haight), with a photo of some reclaimed redwood that’s going to be used for the bar and tabletops in the new restaurant.

This weekend, it’s the return of free days at the California Academy of Sciences for residents of 94117. On various weekend in the spring and fall, the museum offers free entry to residents of different SF neighborhoods. We had our first free weekend in May, and now it’s our second (and last) chance of the year.

In shop-within-a-shop news, Mission District boutique Minxy has started selling women’s vintage clothing and accessories inside Black Pancake Records (593 Haight).

On Sunday, Two Jacks (401 Haight) hosts The Kick Back, an afternoon of live music and good food. They’ll be serving up their usual menu, plus Maui Wowi will be serving coffee and smoothie specials, all of which will be accompanied by live reggae music from Jah Summit. The free event goes down this Sunday, from 2pm to 7pm, at Two Jacks.

As we mentioned earlier this week, tomorrow night is Movie Night in Duboce Park featuring the 2004 Pixar hit, “The Incredibles.” The free film kicks off around 7:15pm with some short films by the kids in the Harvey Milk Rec Center’s summer camp program. More details here.

Tonight, D-Structure presents “Misandry” — new works by artist Jeremy Novy. Yes, Jeremy Novy of the recent koi controversy (?) — but he’s much more than just a fish artist. In the show opening tonight, Novy flips the concept of pulp street art stenciling (traditionally focused on female subject matter) by highlighting the male form in his works. Expect the usual assortment of beverages, tunes, and freebies — oh, and today also happens to be the artist’s birthday, so this might just double as a birthday party. Join the fun tonight, from 8pm-11:30pm, at D-Structure (520 Haight).

Finally, this is your last chance to send us your questions for the mayoral candidates. We’ve already chosen some great questions submitted by readers, but we’re looking for one or two more. Any topic goes. We’ll be sending the questionnaire out on Monday, so email, tweet, Facebook, or leave a comment with your questions this weekend.
