Restaurants are innovating, construction is progressing, events are evolving — the neighborhood is abuzz in this week’s leftovers!

Mark your calendars — the next Lower Haight Art Walk has just been announced! It’ll be Saturday, August 6th — and in a departure from recent incarnations, it’ll be a daytime affair, from 12pm to 6pm. There’ll be the usual art walk awesomeness — live music, a scavenger hunt, and of course plenty of art — but this time they’ll also be shutting down the block of Steiner between Haight and Waller to traffic, so expect some extra fun activities and more of a block party atmosphere. More details as the date draws closer.

In food news, Wing Wings (422 Haight) started delivery service on Sunday. They’re willing to bring wings ‘n’ things to almost all of 94117 — from Geary to Duboce, and Stanyan to Gough. (Sorry, Cole Valley). Delivery hours are 11am to 11pm, every day of the week except Tuesday, when Christian rests.

In more food news, Greenburger’s (518 Haight) has officially launched weekend brunch service. We’re talkin’ menu items like lemon ricotta pancakes, BBQ pork scramble, turkey chili rancheros… Yeah. Also, for a limited time, they’re offering 10% off brunch for Haighteration readers — how about that! Service starts at 10am, Saturdays and Sundays.

Over on Divisadero, construction is well underway on the new Chase branch at 401 Divisadero. The walls between the three retail units (including the former homes of Five-Star Truffles and Country Cheese) have been knocked down, leaving one mega-space that’ll soon be abuzz with financial activity and such.

Also on Divis, Eater brings an update on (and photo of) the gutting of 550 Divisadero, the future home of Bi-Rite. According to Eater, the market is still on track to open in January.

Think you’ve got what it takes to host an eating competition in your house? The Urban Eating League (an offshoot of the Wigg Party) is looking for a couple of Lower Haight hosts for its upcoming contest on July 31st. In UEL events, five different hosts make meals for ten teams of eaters. The teams rotate from host to host, sampling the food and rating the host sites on different categories like flavor, hospitality, and creativity. At the end of the night, everyone reconvenes for dessert and awards. It’s not just food and fun though — the event doubles as a fundraiser for local school supplies. Check out the website for more info.

Tomorrow from 11am to 4pm, there will be a Mega Garage Sale on Waller, between Fillmore and Steiner. We’re told 15 “garage salers” will be selling their wares, including furniture, clothes, shoes, housewares, and more. Also, there’ll be live music, as well as five craft vendors on hand — leather craftsmen, belt-buckle specialists, jewelry-makers, t-shirt printers, and artists. Visit the event’s Facebook page for more.

Finally, anybody know a guy named Matthew who wanders the neighborhood walking dogs and playing pianos? If so, let Laurel know, cuz she’s looking for him.
