Underground SF Sold; Few Changes Planned?

Remember back in March, when we told you that Underground SF was for sale, along with the rest of the building at 424 Haight Street?

Well, the whole shebang has just been sold — but from the sound of things, you might not notice a difference!

Jay Barmann over at Grubstreet identifies the Underground’s new owners as Stephen and Donna Johnson, and brings word (via previous owner Cip Cipriano) that the Johnsons have “no transformative plans” for the place, meaning you can expect the venue’s regular rotation of events and promotions to continue.

A realtor close to the deal tells Haighteration that the new owners did in fact purchase both the bar and the residential units together in a package deal, and that the price ended up very close to what the seller was seeking (which, back in March, was just shy of $1.5 million). The deal isn’t 100% done, so the exact closing price isn’t available yet — but everything should be finalized within a few days.

So there you have it — a peaceful transition of power at the Lower Haight’s only real nightclub. Carry on, Undergrounders. Carry on!
