Ah, chocolate, wine, art and parties — life is good in the Lower Haight this week. Check out all the delectable details in today’s leftovers!
- On Sunday, Aline’s Closet (101 Pierce) celebrates its 1-year anniversary! From 2-6pm, enjoy a 15% discount off everything in the boutique, as well as complimentary glasses of wine, and slices of chocolate birthday cake. Congrats on the milestone, Aline!
- Do you miss 5-Star Truffles, which moved to the Castro in January after being displaced from its 411 Divisadero location by Chase Bank? Well, you can still find them in our neck of the woods — less than a block away from their old home, in fact. Haighteration reader Lisa Z. tips us that the small flower shop Verde SF on Fell Street, next to Bank of America, has a whole fridge-full of 5-Star’s chocolate drops of heaven. Sweet news indeed.
- You know all those giant heart sculptures you see around the city, like the one in Union Square, or in the front yard of the oldest house around? Well, the organization behind them, the San Francisco General Hospital Foundation, is calling on artist submissions for new heart designs to include in its annual auction. If you’re an artist interested in participating, visit sfghf.net, or contact Haighteration reader Joe Kowalke (joek@charleszukow.com) for more information.
Also, if your Saturday is looking empty, check out these four events happening tomorrow!
- From 10:45am to 2pm, stroll over to our neighboring neighborhood and celebrate the grand re-opening of the Hayes Valley Playground at Hayes and Buchanan. The event promises “music, drink, food and fun for all!”
- After that, from 1-4pm, don’t miss the Lower Haight Mural Celebration, at Laguna and Waller. There’ll be artists, food from local vendors, prizes, a bake sale, and more.
- If you like wine, you might want to check out Uva Enoteca’s wine class tomorrow afternoon from 3-5pm at 568 Haight, focusing on the wines of Emilia-Romagna, a region of northern Italy that Uva describes as “home to some of the best food and drink in the world.” The class, which pairs the wines with expertly chosen meats and cheeses, costs $45, and is limited to 10 people. Call 415-829-2024 or email info@uvaenoteca.com to sign up.
- And finally, at 7pm, Fifty24SF (218 Fillmore) hosts “In My Room,” a solo show by the artist known as Swampy. As the gallery puts it, “Up for only 1 night, Or maybe a week. We haven’t decided.” So, you should probably check this one out while you can.
