Having a Friday afternoon snack attack? Then it’s probably a good time for some leftovers.

Here’s a huge sampler of news stories that didn’t quite make the front page this week.

Let’s start with the slew of events going on this weekend:

  • Residents of NoPa (or whatever you prefer to call it) should head to Lyon Street on Saturday from 10am to 6pm for the 10th Annual Spring Block Party, presented by your neighborhood association, NOPNA. There’ll be a BBQ, a taco truck, music, face painting, a photo booth, dancing, and more.
  • Meanwhile, Saturday afternoon at 2pm, Wing Wings (422 Haight) will be giving out free samples (while supplies last).
  • Saturday is The Rapture. Around 6ish.
  • After that, grab some friends and join the weekly CLASH scavenger hunt, which swings through the Lower Haight Saturday night. Find clues, people, and objects around the neighborhood while completing photo/video challenges. The fun kicks off at Mad Dog in the Fog (530 Haight) at 8pm and lasts till 11ish. Check out their website for more info.
  • We’ll have more on this tomorrow, but Saturday night will also see Movie Night in Duboce Park. The flick is “The Rock”, and the movie begins around 8:15pm.
  • We’ll also have more on this, but Sunday is the second birthday of Three Twins Ice Cream‘s Lower Haight shop. To celebrate, they’ll be offering $2 scoops, $2-off pints, and a raffle for free pints. That’s 254 Fillmore, all day Sunday.
  • On Sunday, from 2pm to 4:30pm, local history expert Monika Trobits leads a guided walking tour of the Lower Haight, dubbed “Victorians and Landmarks.” The tour starts at Duboce Park near the playground, and will wind through the neighborhood, ending at Page and Buchanan. Cost is $15 per person, and dogs are welcome. Email Monika at monika@sanfranciscojourneys.com for more info.
  • Also on Sunday, if you’re a bike and/or Wiggle enthusiast, be part of the filming of a pro-Wiggle PSA. The film shoot aims to “showcase the diversity of San Francisco’s bicycle culture,” so they’re looking for all types of people with all types of bikes. Pedal on over to Duboce Park at 2pm to be part of the action.
  • Finally, Sunday is Harvey Milk Day. Plan/reflect/celebrate accordingly.

And in news that has nothing to do with this weekend:

  • Fecal Face is looking to organize a co-ed softball team for Monday and/or Tuesday night games beginning in July. Interested? Email info(at)ffdg.net.
  • Eater reported this week that Bi-Rite got its liquor license for its new Divisadero location, which should be opening around September.
  • In other liquor license news, Palmyra (700 Haight) officially got its beer and wine license on Monday.
  • SF Appeal reported this week that Muni will soon be adding an express bus line to supplement the N Judah. The bus will serve the Outer Sunset up to 19th Avenue, then will head directly to downtown. Whether this means the N trains will be less crowded when they arrive at our neck of the woods remains to be seen. Service should begin June 13th.

PHEW!
