Katz Bagels, which may or may not have dropped the “Bagels” entirely from its identity, is in the final stages of pursuing a permit for outdoor seating.

A full year after we first told you about Katz’s's’s desire to open its lush, lovely back patio space to customers, the eatery is finally set to go before the Planning Commission for approval.

See? Lush and lovely.

A notice has appeared in Katz’s window at 663 Haight Street announcing the Planning Commission meeting, scheduled for Thursday, June 2nd at 12:00pm. Up for consideration will be the plans “to add an outdoor activity area to an existing service restuarant (D.B.A. Katz) located within the rear of a two-story mixed-use building.”

As unabashed fans of al fresco dining, we here at Haighteration can’t help but support this initiative. How about you?
