Needless to say, there’s more to being British than sitting in a pub all day drinking beer and watching soccer football.
There’s also sitting in a pub all day drinking beer and watching a royal wedding!
Whether you’re a Brit or not, swing by Mad Dog in the Fog (530 Haight) tomorrow to enjoy this very special spectacle with a few like-minded brethren over a pint or two. Or several.
What will Kate wear? Will it go smoothly? Why are the ceremonies of a largely symbolic monarchy even relevant in the 21st century? Who cares? It’s something to do!
Now, the wedding officially starts at 3am our time — an hour after last call — so Mad Dog has opted not to show it live. As owner Cyril Hackett tells us, it would have been “a tough call to open at 2am and serve tea and sandwiches and maybe some crumpet.”
Instead, they’ll be recording all the hoopla and broadcasting it on the big screens throughout the day.
The bar opens at 11:30am, so if you’re the kind of person who ordered Will and Kate commemorative dishware, or if you’re just looking for a unique way to spend your lunch break, drop on by.
