Your Guide to Beer Week in the Lower Haight

It’s a historic morning, folks — and not just because of that whole Egypt thing.

No, the big news is that SF Beer Week is finally upon us!

From today until February 20th, bars and breweries all over the Bay Area will be participating with rare brews and special events, but you don’t have to leave the area to join in the fun.

With the help of beer-loving Haighteration reader @troymccluresf of goldengatebeerbars.com, we’ve compiled a list of all the Beer Week events going on in (and near) the Lower Haight.

Here’s our round-up!

February 11

Toronado • 547 Haight • 10pm – 1am
Speakasy, Ninkasi, & Firestone Walker Mixer
After the Opening Gala, come meet some of your favorite West Coast brewers from Ninkasi, Firestone Walker, and Speakeasy. Each brewery will have 3-4 exclusive beers on draft.

Beer and Ice Cream Floats
Every day of Beer Week, specially featured ‘Beer Floats’ teaming award-winning Bison Organic Beer with our favorite organic ice cream. Let us woo you with both our traditional and unexpected flavor pairings. A wonderfully adult way to relive your youth!

February 12

Lucky 13 • 2140 Market • 4pm – 11:30pm
Pitty Party with Ninkasi & Speakeasy
Pinups for Pitbulls is throwing a party with Ninkasi and Speakeasy. Proceeds will go to raise awareness and fund dogs in need. Entertainment includes celebrity Shorti Rossi of Pit Boss on Animal Planet and his companion Hercules, an auction of local artwork, and brewery guests from Ninkasi and Speakeasy. Suggested donation of $15.

February 14

Noc Noc • 557 Haight • 6pm – 12am
St. Valentine’s Day Massacre
Come celebrate the bloody nightmare of Prohibition. We will have 6 exclusive Speakeasy beers on draft, hand-made right here in small batches in San Francisco! Prizes, giveaways, and the Speakeasy staff will be on-site to answer questions and have a bloody good time!

February 15

Bar Crudo • 655 Divisadero • 6pm – 9:30pm
Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. Dinner
Come join us with brewer Terence Sullivan from Sierra Nevada as we pair some amazing beer with the food from chef Mike Selvera. Come try Liquid Sourdough Lager, co-brewed by Bar Crudo at Sierra Nevada Beer Camp. 5 Beers matched with 5 courses for $65 (tax and tip not incl.) Beer Social from 6pm to 6:30pm. Dinner starts at 6:30pm.

Blackbird • 2124 Market • 6pm – 8pm
Sudwerk Beer and Chicks & Love Pizza Pairing
Come experience the best of beer and pizza. The event will consist of a pairing of Sudwerk craft lager beers and Chicks & Love gourmet flat bread pizzas. Stop by and have a taste of four Sudwerk Beers and two Chicks & Love pizzas for $15. Great pizza and beer is a combination you can’t beat.

The Page • 298 Divisadero • 6pm – 8pm
Kolsch Night
The Page, Reissdorf, Magnolia, Drake’s, Cologne Tourism Board, and The German Consulate General of San Francisco present an international experience. You will receive endless, crisp Kölsch served according to Kölsch customs, Kölsch comfort food, an accordion player, and hopefully some take-home knowledge about Cologne, its beer, and its culture. Admission is $20.

Russian River Brewing Co.’s ‘tion Night
Draft and bottle ‘tion beers from Russian River Brewing Co., including vintage and cellar releases.

February 16

Blackbird • 2124 Market • 6pm – 8pm
Schneider Weisse Biers & Artisan Cheese Pairing
The Schneider Family has been brewing wheat beers in Bavaria in the traditional fashion for six generations. We’ll pair 5 of their unique beers with a selection of 5 artisan cheeses. We’ll be pouring Schneider Original Weisse, Edel-Weisse, Aventinus, Hopfen-Weisse, & Aventinus Eisbock, each paired with a carefully selected artisan cheese. Admission is $15.

Meet the Brewmaster: Lost Abbey/Port Brewing
Join Tomme Arthur for special Lost Abbey beers, including Cable Car draft and bottles.

Bar Crudo • 655 Divisadero • 6pm – 9:30pm
Beer Dinner: Ballast Point Brewing Co.
The guys from Ballast Point are bringing their beers up north and joining us in the pairing of great beer with great food. We will have 5 unique Ballast Point Beers paired with 5 courses created by Bar Crudo chef Mike Selvera. Beer Social will begin at 6pm. Dinner will be served at 6:30, and it will be $65.

Pliny the Younger release celebration!
Enjoy complimentary hors d’oeurvres while sampling flights of Russian River beers including Pliny the Younger. $20 buys a sampler of five beers served in 8-oz. glasses. Enjoy Damnation, Supplication, Blind Pig, Pliny the Elder and Pliny the Younger!

February 17

Meet the Brewer: Crispin & Fox Barrel Artisanal Beer-Yeast-Fermented Ciders
Ryan Aikens of NorCal Crispin & Fox Barrel Ciders can elevate your mind using brewers yeast strains (Trappist & Irish Stout) to accentuate ciders with organic sugar sources for fermentation. Enjoy 4 hand-crafted ciders each paired with local charcuterie and discuss with the master brewer the process of this novel endeavor! Special mixology TBA. Admission is $15.

Brewery Night: High Gravity Beers from Sierra Nevada
Molotov’s is adding to the Haight St. festivities with its own strong beer celebration. Stop in to try specialty beers from Sierra Nevada like Hoptimum Double IPA, Jack and Ken’s Ale, Brewers’ Reserve, Bigfoot Barleywine, and Molotov’s co-brewed Beer Camp beer, Liquid Sour Dough.
