‘Tis the season for some friendly competition!

Windows around the neighborhood have been decked out in their holiday best, and now it’s time for you to pick your favorite.

And the competitors are…

*************

Squat and Gobble

Painted ornaments, bows, toys and holly fill the windows of this Fillmore Street creperie.

*************

Noc Noc

The window at Noc Noc features a smiling snowman wishing you “Happy Holidays,” along with the message “Let’s Noc in the NEW YEAR 2011.”

*************

Lower Haters

Lower Haters brightened up for the holidays, stringing bulbs around its window, dangling icicle lights near the doorway, and illuminating a sidewalk tree.

*************

Nickies

Nickies celebrates the SF Giants this year. Their window incorporates caricatures of players including Tim Lincecum, Cody Ross, and Pablo Sandoval, as well as Brian Wilson holding a wish list that includes “a new glove,” “a vacation,” and “a world series title” — the last of which is ticked with a big checkmark.

*************

Upper Playground

Upper Playground styled several windows for the holidays this year. One contains a jolly gnome:

While a skeletal Santa rides a glowing sleigh in another:

And the iconic Upper Playground walrus gets a snowy makeover in a window of his own:

*************

Merch

Subtle touches like hanging snowflakes, an artsy/craftsy pine tree, and christmas lights combine to brighten up the windows at Merch.

*************

Idle Hand Tattoo

Idle Hand Tattoo went for it with the lights this year, stringing colorful bulbs outside (and above) their storefront, as well as amongst the branches of a nearby tree.

*************

D-Structure

An explosion of silver-wrapped gifts on a bed of snow can be found in the window of D-Structure.

*************

Animal House

The window at Animal House features three pets sleeping by the fireplace, with visions of toys and treats running through their heads.

Here’s a close-up of the critters:

And a look at what they’re dreaming about…

*************

Costumes on Haight

And finally, it’s a Charlie Brown Christmas in the windows of Costumes on Haight, where the lovable loser and his oddly oversized dog Snoopy celebrate the season. Colorful lights, a Santa hat, and a very sad Christmas tree complete the scene.

*************

So, which was your favorite? You have until this Friday to vote, after which we’ll crown a winner. Not sure what the prize is, if any — we’ll check with the organizers of the Lower Haight Art Walk to be sure — but certainly the glory of victory is a good start!
