Yesterday’s fierce online match-up between underdog neighborhoods is over, and the Lower Haight has prevailed.

In the first round battle of the 2010 Curbed Cup, 644 votes were cast, with a whopping 80.3% going for the Lower Haight.

There was some confusion last night as an extra 1,000+ votes suddenly appeared to flip the outcome entirely in the Tenderloin’s favor, but Curbed says it was a technical issue that has since been resolved.

So, onto the round of 8!

Not sure who we’ll face next, but the remaining competitors are Bernal Heights, Potrero Hill, Hayes Valley, SOMA, South Beach, The Mission, and our neighbor The Panhandle, which defeated the Sunset yesterday. Also, by our math, no other first round winner garnered even half the number of votes that the Lower Haight got. So, that’s promising.

(Of course, none of this actually matters. But that’s what makes it fun, right?)

Enjoy the glow of victory, neighbors, and rest up for round two — we’ll let you know when it starts!

Update: Curbed has just posted their brackets (or, I guess, bracket). The Lower Haight will next face South Beach in round two, which starts on Monday. Stay tuned!
