It’s been a while since we’ve done this, but here are some news stories that didn’t quite get our full attention recently.
- Recession shmecession — D-Structure is hiring.
- A couple of crimes have rocked the lowerhaight.org google group this week. A 2-door Toyota Yaris was apparently stolen last night from the 100 block of Fillmore, and an apartment on the 500 block of Haight was burgled Wednesday morning.
Quoth the latter victim:
They stole my laptops, jewelry and a credit card. They also stole a backpack to steal everything in. Bad burglars! Not prepared!
At least they didn’t steal her sense of humor. If you have info on either crime, kindly let the group know, won’t you?
- Artist Lisa Dawn Colvin has an opening reception tonight from 7-9pm at Bean There for her collection of photo collages, “seasons v1.” Here’s a sample:
- In very different art-related news, Chicken Milk, the artist behind that Banksy-like stenciling of Ike’s Place a couple of months ago, has apparently renamed the Popular Market on Haight:
Chicken Milk also did some recent wheatpasting in Alamo Square in support of the ill-fated Prop 19. Here’s a video.
- After our story yesterday about the damaged Memphis Minnie’s van, GM Ben Seabury has told us that, though he greatly appreciates the donation offers from readers, they’re not necessary. “We have great insurance and have already started the process of
getting the van repaired,” he writes. If anyone who mounted the van wants to contribute to his deductible, however, I’m sure he’d appreciate it.
- And finally, maybe it was for the Giants, or Halloween, or some less obvious reason, but this thing is now orange.
