Last week, we told you about the giant mural planned for the side of the UC Berkeley Extension building on Haight Street. A community meeting was held Wednesday night at Cafe International to discuss the project. Here’s a quick recap.
Many of the participating artists have submitted first-draft sketches of their planned designs, and these were laid out on the counter for all to see and discuss.
The response from both neighbors and reps from UC Berkeley was very positive. They also voted on possible slogans to be written on the building. The winner? “Love in the Lower Haight” — which was also the clear winner of our very non-scientific poll last week.
Finally, the mural will be painted just three weeks from now — on Saturday, October 23rd. With more than a dozen artists participating, it should be a pretty incredible day. We’ll be sure to bring you the highlights.
