Here are a few Lower Haight news items that slipped through the cracks this week.
- This weekend, the Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure power-walks its way through the Bay Area in support of breast cancer research. Swing by Duboce Park Sunday between 10am and 1pm to cheer the participants on.
- While we’re on the do-gooding tip, Haighteration reader Joe K. alerts us to the S.F. General Hospital Foundation’s annual Heroes & Hearts award, which is bestowed upon community members who are making a difference. If you know folks who deserve to be recognized, you can nominate them here any time before November 1.
- In less selfless but decidedly tastier news, Memphis Minnie’s 10th anniversary is this month, and they’re planning… something. When we find out what, we’ll let you know.
- An ad appeared on craigslist this week for a retail space at 320 Fillmore Street, the current home of Trinity Hair Affair. The space was listed as 300 square feet for $1200 a month, available in October. The ad has since been deleted by its author.
- On Saturday, registration begins for fall classes at the Harvey Milk Recreation Center. In all, 33 new classes are available — everything from “Claymation for Kids” to “Social Media for Seniors.” Lots of good stuff here.
- Two Jacks is offering free mac & cheese with your purchase of $25 or more (details here).
