A man was found dead this afternoon inside his residence on the 100 block of Hermann Street, between Buchanan and Webster. Police are treating the death as a homicide.

The victim, who police described to us as a 35-year-old white male, was found with multiple stab wounds. An acquaintance of the victim called police after discovering his body this afternoon around 1pm, but police believe the homicide may have occurred over the weekend.

A reader emailed us to describe the scene this evening:

I saw a gurney laying outside, police tape around at least one property, maybe more, lots of cops (uniformed and suits), and the Medical Examiner van. I first passed before 6 and there were only a few cars/people, but by 6:30 there were several more.

We’ll update with any additional details. In the meantime, police are seeking your assistance. If you have any information about the crime, please call the SFPD tip line at (415) 575-4444.
