Yesterday, a commenter on our Facebook page tipped us to a possible murder near Haight and Buena Vista Park:
You wouldn’t happen to know what happened this morning on the Buena Vista East and Haight steps of Buena Vista park? There was a dead body with yellow plastic over it, a bunch of police and a medical examiner. It was around 10-11am
Today, we’ve learned that there was in fact a murder in the park yesterday.
According to the police:
Haight/Baker (V WM) and (S BM 20’s) and two other subjects were drinking at the top of Buena Vista Park. Suspect stabs victim in chest. Victim is carried down to street by other subjects, victim dies of wound.
We’ll update this post with any additional details.
Update 7/29/2010: The SF Appeal reports that police have arrested a 30-year-old transient on a charge of murder.
Other details: The victim is thought to be a homeless man between 30 and 40 years old, and the stabbing resulted after an argument began between the men. Police have not yet released the identity of the suspect or the victim.
