This is the first in a series of posts about secret, awesome discoveries in the Lower Haight. We’re calling it Secretly Awesome. If you can think of a better name, we’re all ears.
So there’s this lady, Vanessa Vortex. She’s a professional circus hula hoopist and vaudeville performer from NYC.
Starting tomorrow, and every Thursday through the end of May, Ms. Vortex will be at the Harvey Milk Center teaching classes on how to swivel your hips and spin that hoop like a pro. You’ll learn “sweet moves” involving your waist, knees, arms and legs, and Vanessa will “show you how to do tricks you never thought possible.” (!!!)
There’s a class just for kids at 3:30pm, and one for all ages at 5:30pm. Classes are only $12 each, and your first class is free.
Now that’s what we (currently) call… Secretly Awesome!
